So I just watched Barbarian for the first time, and I gotta say it was very darkly funny in parts. Justin Long's character AJ does exactly what our protagonist Tess says at the start. "A man would just barge [into this house] without even thinking about it." AJ just busts in, doesn't even think about it, no caution no nothing. It's only after he sees Tess and Keith's stuff that he starts to get freaked out. Even still, he stays, even gets excited to find the secret dungeon, as he thinks it will make the house easier to sell. He's such an incurious piece of shit and does everything wrong, and Tess fucking called it. His perceived power, his upbringing as a white man, make him think he's invincible. Only to be brought down by the primal Mother.
